Yes, it’s a classic American institution. But you have to admit: the New England Confectionery Company, better known to you and I as the folks behind Necco wafers, produces some of the driest, dustiest candy on the planet. Necco Wafers are the candy left at the bottom of your Halloween trick-or-treat bag after all the [...]

While it may not have been an altogether satisfying experience, reviewing Hubba Bubba gum’s new Strawberry Gush Glop – pieces of gum that resemble strange red chicken eggs – did at least bring back some sweet childhood memories.
Back in middle school we had a candy dealer who would sell us pieces of original Hubba Bubba [...]

My local grocery store just began carrying a new fruit candy by Sun-Rype called Squiggles. They profess to be 100% fruit twists - implying that the Squiggles are healthy, not just yummy. To me, something called a “Squiggle” just looked fun so I grabbed a couple.
First up, I tried the strawberry. The moment I opened [...]

Lifesavers were always one of those candies I shied away from buying as a kid. I found their flavors too artificial, and often only enjoyed one or two flavors per roll. I could never justify buying them since I really just didn’t like them that much.
However, browsing the candy aisle in Walgreens, I [...]

I can be a vulture when it comes to candy. I have a predetermined list of stores I scout out weekly and gaze upon their candy sections. Supermarkets, drugstores, gas stations, etc…. I usually do this to see if there happens to be a sale on candy, or even if I know there is [...]

As Monica correctly alluded to in her love ‘em or hate ‘em candies, taffy is definitely a divisive confection. I happen to be a lover of this candy, ever since the days I journeyed to Catalina and discovered what taffy is.
As a product, taffy doesn’t really have a large niche in the candy aisle. Most [...]

I buy candy with the intention to eat it, but might not get to it for months, at times more than a year. It’s simply because I have so much of the stuff, and I typically consume what will go bad the fastest first, i.e. chocolate and marshmallows, leaving gummi products and hard candy for [...]

Here in Canada, something strange has been happening to the packages of Sour Patch Kids, Fuzzy Peaches, and an array of other familiar gummies. They’ve gotten package updates that prominently feature the name Maynards – a very minor branch of Trebor Bassett known only for making Wine Gums, hardly the most popular of candies.
Fortunately [...]

I have many a fond memory of Baskin-Robbins from childhood: the free birthday cones, the baseball helmet sundaes, the hard, hard scoops that could be shot clear off your sugar cone and onto the lawn with one overzealous lick. Not to mention the choices – oh, the choices! All 31-plus of them! [...]
